CDP
Since 2020 Ballard has annually disclosed our environmental performance through the CDP disclosure platform (formally Carbon Disclosure Project). The CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. Each year, CDP takes the information supplied in its annual reporting process and scores companies and cities based on their journey through disclosure and towards environmental leadership. Through an independent scoring methodology, they measure corporate and city progress and incentivize action on climate change, forests and water security
EcoVadis
EcoVadis Sustainability Ratings provide a detailed assessment of Ballard’s sustainability performance in areas of Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Each year we submit answers and evidence to the EcoVadis questionnaire where a team will asses our performance and rate us against their scoring methodology. Scorecards are made available and shared with our network partners as requested through the platform. In 2023, a silver rating meant that Ballard’s sustainability performance was in the top 15% of companies scored by EcoVadis.
UN Global Compact (UNGC)
The UN Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of UN goals and issues embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals.
Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 15,000 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries, and more than 70 Local Networks. The Compact’s ambition is to accelerate and scale the global collective impact of business by upholding The Ten Principles and delivering the Sustainable Development Goals through accountable companies and ecosystems that enable change.
UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) were set in September 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and signed by all member states establishing one global agenda for 2030.
Ballard is guided by the UN SDGs and to doing our part to improve the company’s contribution toward achieving these universally accepted goals and mobilizing efforts to tackle climate change and fight inequalities. We seek to maintain alignment between our sustainability efforts and the UN SDGs in support of a more equitable and sustainable world. We summarize the areas where we have an opportunity for impact and some of the activities in place to contribute to the achievement of the goals in our Sustainability report.
